Located within the vale of the River Avon, this is one our favourite smaller scale projects. Following an extension at the rear of the house, the previous garden no longer worked or made sense. What was needed was a complete re-think on structure and shape – with plenty of space for outside entertaining and pathways that created a journey amongst the planting. The design incorporated bespoke steel edging to bring order to the space and to retain herbaceous borders, as well as dealing with substantial level changes.
As the client was a keen gardener, we were able make this a ‘gardener’s garden’ through a comprehensive planting scheme. Herbaceous perennials were combined with grasses that are punctuated with strong, feature plants including multi-stemmed crab apple and clipped Columnar hornbeam. We also installed LED lighting to create atmosphere and drama at night.
